Insurance Centers, Inc. has enjoyed more than forty (40) years of growth and success. It has grown from a part-time venture to an independent agency with four (4) locations and more than twenty-five (25) employees.

Insurance Centers, Inc. originated in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia in 1958. Paul Thomas started the agency in his parent's home. In 1959 Paul's brother Lowell joined him in the agency and the resulting company was known as Thomas Brothers Insurance Agency. In 1963 Erie Insurance Company entered into a contract with Thomas Brothers Insurance Agency to market its products.

In 1973 the agency had grown to a size which required it to relocate into a new building in Bruceton Mills. The company purchased an existing house in the downtown area of Bruceton.

In 1979 the agency expanded into Morgantown with the opening of the Morgantown Insurance Center. The Morgantown Insurance Center was formed with the purchase of a few small agencies from their retiring owners. An office was opened at 1544 Mileground and continues to be the flagship for the current Insurance Centers operation.

In 1983 Thomas Brothers Insurance Agency moved into a modern new building in Bruceton Mills and continues to maintain its offices in this location. The agency continued to expand in 1988 as it opened the Kingwood Insurance Center in Kingwood. Kingwood Insurance Center was formed as a result of the purchase of the former Hooten Insurance Agency.

In 1992 the company was reorganized to simplify its operations and accounting. The three separate corporations, Thomas Brothers Insurance Agency, Inc., Morgantown Insurance Center, Inc., and Kingwood Insurance Center, Inc. were consolidated into a single corporation known as Insurance Centers, Inc. Then in September of 2007, Insurance Centers expanded its Commercial Department by opening a fourth office located on Don Knotts Blvd. in Morgantown. Today all four locations operate under the Insurance Center name.

In 1998, Paul Thomas and Lowell Thomas decided to continue the Insurance Centers, Inc. story into the next generation through family perpetuation. In December 1998, Paul and Lowell Thomas transferred the ownership of Insurance Centers, Inc. to Brian Thomas. Brian is Paul's son and a nephew of Lowell. It is Brian's intention to continue the Insurance Centers, Inc. as an independent agency.
